Why Belong?

fWhy Belong?

The Western Canada Tire Dealers Association was formed in December 1962 in Banff, Alberta and today, almost 50 years later, has over 900 active members comprised of independent tire dealers who specialize in tires and tires services, throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Western Ontario, the Yukon and North West Territory. Our association provides the foundation for our members to unite on issues that affect our business such as; government legislation, labour standards, health & safety, manufacturing requirements, tire recycling and the environment.

Members enjoy the most complete Employee Technician Training and Certification program in the industry, insuring the best trained and most knowledgeable staff are servicing their customers. The association was the catalyst behind the elimination of tipping fees on used tires destined for recycling saving millions of dollars per year in disposal costs for all tire dealers. We were also instrumental in the development of the Tire Stewardship Programs (recycling) in western Canada and have representation on the Board of each Provincial Stewardship representing all members. In spring of 2011 the Association formed a Safety Committee to focus on workplace safety and provide the tools necessary for our members to run the safest businesses possible. We are also a proud member of AIA Canada, the association responsible for the Right to Repair act being legislated by our federal government paving the way for independent tire and automotive dealers to have access to vehicle manufacture information and allowing the aftermarket the required information to service new vehicles including Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems.

Belonging to the association also nets our member’s access to excellent insurance and employee benefit programs through Federated Insurance as well other benefits such as preferred credit card rates, fuel discounts, stationary & business form preferred pricing and others.

The family of both the Member and their staff are also annually eligible to apply for one of five $2000 Scholarships.
